Agents Of SHIELD Survive For Yet Another Season

The renewal was expected, but ABC made Marvel's Agents of SHIELD wait a while to find out they've been re-enlisted for a fifth season. Questions about the series fate started up after the move to the 10 PM Tuesday night time slot and the dip in ratings. Though the dip was somewhat expected with the later time slot, it did seem to put the show in jeopardy. Add in the announcement of Marvel's Inhumans starting this fall.

Executive producer Jed Whedon had spoken on the topic a while back and told EW that were told to write a season finale not a series finale.

Where the numbers have dipped, the critic response to the fourth season has improved greatly with the three story-arc format introducing Robbie Reyes / Ghost Rider, LMDs and the Framework.

Season 4 finale airs Tuesday, May 16th at 10 PM on ABC.
