Thanks To The Hellboy Whitewashing Controversy, Ed Skrein And Daniel Dae Kim Are Bros Now
There are times when something good can come out of a bad situation. For the comic book community, the moment when actor Ed Skrein walked away from a role when he found out it was whitewashed was a good thing coming out of something bad. Then we got news that the fantastic Daniel Dae Kim was cast in the role. Kim went out of his way to commend Skrein for walking away from the role when other actors have failed to do in the past.
It seems that something else has come out of that controversy, as Kim posted a picture of himself and Skrein, saying that they are friends now.
The entire casting controversy has been one whirlwind after another, and it's been fascinating to watch. Skrein gained a lot of respect for people fighting for racial equality in Hollywood. As a white, handsome man, it wasn't like losing this role was going to destroy his career. Still, he walked away from a paycheck, a job — and that's a big deal.
Kim, who has recently put his career on the line by walking away from Hawaii Five-O, is getting the chance to join a major movie. And now they both have a new friend. This situation somehow keeps getting better.
Hellboy, directed by Neil Marshall, will also star David Harbour, Milla Jovovich, Sasha Lane, Penelope Mitchell, and Ian McShane. It will be released on January 11th, 2019.
