Mondo is Releasing Two Beneath the Planet of the Apes Posters Tomorrow

Mondo will release two new Beneath the Planet of the Apes posters featuring artwork by artist Paolo Rivera. These were originally covers for the BOOM! Comics mini-series Planet of the Apes: Ursus, but have been repurposed as posters for the film. Two versions will be available: a regular edition with a yellow background limited to 225 pieces for $50, while the red background version is limited to just 125 pieces for $75. Both are on sale tomorrow at a random time during the day, January 15th.

We're excited to kickstart the new year with a pair of stunning new posters for BENEATH THE PLANET OF THE APES by Paolo Rivera! The second entry in the iconically wild series, BENEATH focuses on a new astronaut named John Brent who is on a rescue mission to save the astronauts from the original film. Along the way he also encounters the intelligent talking apes and an underground cult of mutant nuclear blast survivors.

The artwork was originally released as cover art for BOOM! Studios' PLANET OF THE APES: URSUS limited miniseries, we're proud to partner with them to release Paolo's gorgeous art as a screenprinted poster.

These posters will be available on Tuesday (1/15) at a random time via mondotees.com.

"I feel like I've always been a PLANET OF THE APES fan. But as late as 2013, I was one of those sad souls who knew everything about the movie (and could sing THE SIMPSONS musical number) but hadn't actually seen the original. I had seen the 2001 version with my dad. I saw RISE in 2011. I loved the scene in MAD MEN.

"I finally saw the original the way it was always meant to be seen: streaming on a laptop, 20 minutes at a time, over lunch at home. I knew I would absolutely love it and I did.

"BOOM! Studios contacted me about covers for an Ursus series in 2017, which was a great excuse to finally see BENEATH THE PLANET OF THE APES. As I said to my editor at the time, I had mixed feelings about it,  "… it was a little bat-shit crazy when it should've been more ape-shit." But I loved Ursus, and when it came time to draw him, I had a blast. It helped to have David F. Walker's plots, which really fleshed out the character for me.
