Let's All Watch a Certain Clip From Doctor Who: Brain Of Morbius

Apropos of nothing, let's rewatch a certain clip from Doctor Who: Brain Of Morbius that everyone suddenly wants to rewatch.

The fifth serial of the 13th season of the Doctor Who from January 1976. The on-screen writer credit is given to Robin Bland, a pseudonym for scriptwriter Terrance Dicks and script editor Robert Holmes. It is, amongst other things, the first appearance of the Sisterhood of Karn, in which the surgeon Mehendri Solon seeks to create a body for the Time Lord war criminal Morbius from parts of other creatures that have come to the planet. And sees the doctor fighting Morbius in a battle of wills, pushing each other back through time to non-existence.

We mentioned the clip in question during the Bleeding Cool Ten Thoughts. But thought it might be worthy of its own spot. At the time the scene was intended to show that the First Doctor was not actually the first incarnation of the character and there were many more. Producer Philip Hinchcliffe said, years later,

"We tried to get famous actors for the faces of the Doctor. But because no one would volunteer, we had to use backroom boys. And it is true to say that I attempted to imply that William Hartnell was not the first Doctor."

Chris Chibnall is old school, folks. Really old school…
