Cobra Kai – In the highly anticipated return of two iconic characters, the arch-rivals from the legendary Karate Kid film series reunite over 30 years after the events of the 1984 All Valley Karate Tournament. Now living in the affluent hills of Encino, Daniel LaRusso (Ralph Macchio) leads an enviable life with his beautiful family, while running a successful string of car dealerships throughout the valley.
Meanwhile, his high school adversary, Johnny Lawrence (William Zabka), whose life has taken a rocky turn, seeks redemption by reopening the infamous Cobra Kai karate dojo. Their lives inevitably become intertwined and the rivalry is reignited, setting forth the next generation of "karate kids" in Cobra Kai, a YouTube Originals series.
Season 2 brings fans back into the action with Daniel and Johnny after the shocking Season 1 cliffhanger featuring the return of John Kreese (Martin Kove). When a new rivalry between opposing dojos is born in the aftermath of Cobra Kai's controversial win at the All Valley Championships, Daniel realizes his next countermove is to open his own karate training school called Miyagi-Do, in honor of his mentor Mr. Miyagi.
What was once a personal feud between Daniel and Johnny escalates beyond their differences to engulf their students, who as teenagers, are already challenged to figure out who they are and who they want to be. Which path will they follow – Cobra Kai or Miyagi-Do?
One week after the YouTube Originals' series debuted its sophomore season to strong reviews from viewers and critics, Cobra Kai was renewed for a third season.
It was a rivalry that started 30 years ago, back in 1984's original The Karate Kid, in the final bout of the All-Valley Karate Tournament that saw Ralph Macchio's Daniel LaRusso of Miyagi-Do Karate defeat his bully and rival William Zabka's Johnny Lawrence of Cobra Kai with a crane kick. In Cobra Kai season four, Daniel and Johnny fight again, but […]
Dr. Britt Baker, DMD, will be doing some extra extractions on Netflix with a new role on Cobra Kai in its sixth and final season. According to PWInsider (via Fightful.com), the wrestler – who is set to challenge Mercedes Mone for the TBS Championship at AEW All-In on August 25th – is reportedly playing a competitor from one of the dojos competing at the […]
Demetri Alexopoulos (Gianni DeCenzo) was one of the later bloomers in Cobra Kai to finally buy into embracing martial arts. During a significant chunk of the series, he gets bullied by his best friend Eli "Hawk" Moskowitz (Jacob Bertrand) as he adopts Cobra Kai's toxic and aggressive ways as the bullied-turned-bully. Demetri finally embraced Miyagi-Do […]
There was no way "The Bad Boy of Karate" was missing the final season of showrunners Josh Heald, Jon Hurwitz, and Hayden Schlossberg's Cobra Kai, especially after the hard work Sean Kanan put in for Mike Barnes' return and redemption following the events of The Karate Kid Part III (1989). When we find him in […]
One thing we are certain with the future of The Karate Kid franchise is Ralph Macchio has at least one more adventure in him once Netflix's Cobra Kai wraps in 2025 when season six, part three drops with Sony's untitled Karate Kid 5 film opposite Jackie Chan, the star of the 2010 standalone film, releases. […]
Griffin Santopietro earned the distinction as the only young main cast member of Cobra Kai, as Anthony LaRusso, not to regularly train for a dojo until now. Forgoing repeated offers by his father, Daniel LaRusso (Ralph Macchio), Anthony prefers to manipulate others to get his way, and his sociopathic ways ultimately catch up to him getting […]
It's hard to top the legacy that Pat Morita built as Nariyoahi Miyagi in The Karate Kid franchise, which is why Cobra Kai creators Josh Heald, Jon Hurwitz, and Hayden Schlossberg, built the series around his prized pupil, Daniel LaRusso, played by Ralph Macchio in the Netflix legacy series. The series expands beyond the one […]
To say that Cobra Kai creators Josh Heald, Jon Hurwitz, and Hayden Schlossberg have exceeded all expectations of The Karate Kid franchise and then some would be an understatement. Entering their sixth and final season, separated into three parts, the Netflix series sees the former Cobra Kai and Eagle Fang Karate students absorbed into Miyagi-Do […]
As much as Cobra Kai showrunners Josh Heald, Jon Hurwitz, and Hayden Schlossberg love to keep things tight to the chest as far as the future of the world they build from The Karate Kid franchise, The Karate Kid Part III (1989) star and season five addition Sean Kanan had an idea to pitch involving […]
It's hard to believe how old The Karate Kid, one of the greatest martial arts franchises in pop culture, is. As Sony Pictures preps the release of a new 40th anniversary Blu-ray and 4K disc release, a new generation of fans will experience the original adventure from director John G. Avildsen and writer Robert Mark […]
The Karate Kid franchise has come a long way in its 40 years since the John G. Avildsen Sony Columbia Pictures film from Robert Mark Kamen came out to theaters. The franchise originally featured Ralph Macchio as Daniel LaRusso, a bullied kid who finds a renewed sense of purpose after learning the ways of martial […]
To say Cobra Kai went above and beyond the scope of The Karate Kid film franchise would be an understatement considering instead of one lead learning and growing in the ways of martial arts as stars Ralph Macchio did in the first three films, Hilary Swank did in the fourth film, and Jaden Smith did […]
With the proverbial light at the end of the tunnel, writers are taking notice of the tentative agreement the Writers Guild of America has reached with the major studios and streamers that may put an end to the near half-year-long strike. The WGA informed its strike captains. "We have reached a tentative agreement on a […]
As Hollywood grinds to a halt due to the current WGA strike from industry writers, productions ground to a halt as negotiations are ongoing with studios. Among those affected is Netflix's Cobra Kai which was about to film its sixth and final season. Creator Jon Hurwitz quote tweeted himself with a picture of the writing […]
Griffin Santopietro has come a long way in the Netflix series Cobra Kai playing Anthony LaRusso, the youngest of protagonist Daniel LaRusso (Ralph Macchio). Like his mother Amanda (Courtney Henggeler) and unlike his sister Samantha (Mary Mouser), Anthony never bought into martial arts the way his father embraced it, training a new generation of youths […]
One of the top emerging stars of Cobra Kai season five was right under our noses from the beginning in Griffin Santopietro. The actor grew up on the series, initially more in the background as Anthony LaRusso, often scoffing at his father, Daniel (Ralph Macchio), and sister, Samantha's (Mary Mouser) path to martial arts. As […]
Hilary Swank is starting to feel left out when it comes to the Cobra Kai party. As the lone holdover from "The Karate Kid" films and Miyagi-verse, The Next Karate Kid star told Live with Kelly and Ryan about the lack of progress from the creators of the Netflix series as she's well-aware of the […]
As Cobra Kai fans are well aware, season four was all about the rise of Terry Silver (Thomas Ian Griffith) and his ascension to the iron throne…I mean king of the Valley dojo mountain. When John Kreese (Martin Kove) tracked him down, Terry was done with karate and more than happy to live out his […]
We went from "Beyond the Bonsai" to "Behind the Gi" with Cobra Kai stars Ralph Macchio and Mary Mouser in a behind-the-scenes conversation for season five. For Macchio, it was Daniel's climactic moment when he was at his lowest, and Cobra Kai's Terry Silver (Thomas Ian Griffith) completely broke him from being one step ahead […]
When Cobra Kai season five dropped, one of the most anticipated returns was Sean Kanan's Mike Barnes. Creators Josh Heald, Hayden Schlossberg, and Jon Hurwitz slipped in another surprise from 1989 The Karate Kid Part III in Robyn Lively's Jessica Andrews, Daniel LaRusso's (Ralph Macchio) friend also terrorized by the dojo run by Terry Silver […]
