TMNT Collectors: Grab These Playmates Sketch Series Figures ASAP

We quite like these new TMNT 40th anniversary original sketch edition figures now hitting stores form Playmates Toys.

Article Summary

  • TMNT 40th-anniversary figures from Playmates feature original sketches.
  • Mint On Card (MOC) collectors will appreciate the themed, display-worthy packaging.
  • Figures combine to form a unique base, creating an impressive display set.
  • Priced at $14.99 each, the full set is a steal for TMNT fans and collectors.

TMNT collectors have a variety of choices of companies to buy their action figures these days, but the one constant from basically the beginning has been Playmates. Still going strong after all these years, they are helping to celebrate 40 years of the TMNT with a new set of figures based around the first sketches of the Turtles by Peter Laird and Kevin Eastman all those years ago. They are starting to pop up in stores now, and Playmates was nice enough to send us a set of these wonderful figures to show you.

TMNT Collectors Must Own These, MOC Or Loose

MOC collectors are going to love these. Each of the four Turtles comes in a very nicely packaged, themed box, with the 40th-anniversary logo in the corner, a giant window to show off the figure and accessories, and on the back the original sketch these are based on. Inside is also a small print of the sketch as well, a really nice touch. Basically, you can never open these and be very happy.

If you do open these though, they really shine as a display piece all together. Each comes with a piece to form the base they are able to stand on, along with mutagen puddles and a box to elevate whoever you put in the back, which is genius. Each figure is the same, with pretty good articulation in the arms. There would be no point to this if you couldn't;t come close to matching the sketch poses, and I am happy to say they are able to. The designs are where there are slight differences to differentiate the four TMNT brothers, as far as paint apps go. Once assembled, it becomes a really unique piece for display, and I quite like it.

At a price point of $14.99 a figure, the fact that a full set of these only costs $60 for such a nice presentation and figures is a steal these days. This is such a unique and cool way to celebrate the TMNT in your collection, and I cannot recommend them enough. These are hitting Target stores right now.
