Could Alterna's Low-Priced, Newsprint Comics Also Bring Back Classic Comic Book Advertising?

Last week, Bleeding Cool told you about publisher Alterna's plan to make comics affordable again by releasing a line of single issue comics priced under two dollars. The comics will be printed on newsprint, replicating the feeling of comics from a bygone era. Now, the company is promoting advertising opportunities in those comics, with rates starting as low as $20.

Could the low entry price and newsprint paper help to bring back the sort of advertisements that helped make old comics fun and quirky too?

Alterna has the details on their website, including options for All Ages and more mature products, and the publisher says the circulation will be 5000 copies for a first issue and 3000 for subsequent issues. Here's the full pricing lineup:
