Archaia Continues To Bring Us Stories From All Over The World With Freaks Squeele
I'm always on the lookout for new titles releasing from Archaia, simply because they are beautiful unique books. I came across this press release, and couldn't help but feel extremely enthusiastic about it. Freaks Squeele, written and illustrated by Florent Maudoux, is a new series releasing this June. Much like March of the Crabs, this is another book being translated for English speaking audiences. Archaia continues their wonderful tradition of bringing us stories from all over the world. Freaks Squeele combines elements of European comics, manga, and American superhero comics into a fun story that fans of X-Men, Teen Titans, and Jimmy Palmiotti and Amanda Conner's Power Girl will enjoy.
The story centers on a demon girl named Wolfshade, a werewolf, and Xiong Mao, who has no magical powers at all. All three of them are students at a school for superheroes. The school is mediocre, and the team finds themselves getting no respect from anyone that attends, including the faculty. However, when trouble arrives, and spooky monsters are afoot, things change. Honestly, it's impossible to not be drawn to a comic with such a suspenseful, interesting sounding plot! Plus, you can't really beat a cast of characters as unique as that. I'm incredibly interested to learn more about Xiong Mao, the one with no powers. Like I said, Archaia continually publishes fantastic works and it sounds like Freaks' Squeele will be one of them. I can't wait to get my hands on it.
