As The Walking Dead #193 is Published, Marvel Comics Brings Back Marvel Zombies

In 2005, in the early days of The Walking Dead comic book series, Marvel Comics hired Robert Kirkman to create a new franchise for them, Marvel Zombies, playing off a Mark Millar Ultimate Fantastic Four storyline with a dimension in which a Marvel Earth had fallen to zombie infection. It was drawn by Sean Phillips – not a world away from Charlie Adlard in art style back then. As The Walking Dead became more popular and made Kirkman busier and busier, he didn't have time for a knock off version of his own creation with Marvel characters and so a number of other creators took Marvel Zombies off into new directions. But that was a while ago. Aside from a resurgence during the Secret Wars patchwork planet, there has been little Marvel Zombie to write home about for some time.

But today, as the news about The Walking Dead #193 spreads (seriously, Newsarama, ever heard of not putting a spoiler in the headline?), so Marvel has hurried forward their own announcement by a few days, that Marvel Zombies is returning, in October.

The Dead Will Walk Again.

Very funny, Marvel, who thought that one up?
