Big Spoilers Behind Valiant's Death-Defying Dr. Mirage: Second Life

big-spoiler

Sneaky, sneaky…Valiant has snuck a secret announcement into today's Death-Defying Dr. Mirage #5, the concluding chapter of the critically acclaimed mini-series by Jen Van Meter and Roberto de la Torre that has updated Valiant's paranormal detective for the modern day.

But it involves heavy spoilers for today's issue…

At the mini-series' end, Dr. Mirage emerges from the underworld…and as a reward for completing her journey, the soul of her husband, Hwen, is released back into the world of the living. Indeed, Dr. Mirage now has a ghost husband (!) in a direct homage to the original 90s series The Second Life of Dr. Mirage, where the ghostly (and then-male) Dr. Mirage struggled with a marriage where neither partner could truly feel the other's touch…

But the homages don't stop there… Valiant also appears to be promising more adventures to come with a last page reveal teasing a series called — tellingly — The Death-Defying Dr. Mirage: Second Life, featuring a spiffy new cover image by She-Hulk's Kevin Wada, that will presumably see the husband-wife duo reunite for another spooky outing…

Jen Van Meter has already confirmed that she is working on another as-yet announced project at Valiant… Could this be it? Another mini-series? An ongoing? And just when can we expect it? Valiant is keeping quiet…but we'd wager we'll know before the summer has come and gone…
