Bleeding Cool Bestseller LIst – 17th November 2014 – It's Good To Be Scott Snyder
This is the Top Ten Bleeding Cool Bestseller List, as compiled by a number of comic stores from their sales on Wednesday and Thursday. It measures what are known as the "Wednesday Warriors", those who can't wait to the weekend to get this week's comics. We salute you, and the keenness you bring to your passion.
It's good to be Scott Snyder. Three books in the top ten, Batman, Batman Eternal and Wytches. With Wytches not only beating Axis but Spider-Verse as well. That has to warrant an awkward conversation at Marvel Comics, culminating in the attempted kidnapping of Snyder. And Mark Doyle while they are it.
- Batman #36
- Walking Dead #134
- All-New Captain America #1
- Thor #2
- Superior Iron Man #1
- Wytches #2
- Axis #5
- Batman Eternal #32
- Batgirl #36
- Spider-Verse #1
Thanks to the following retailers,
- G-Mart Comic Books of Champaign, Illinois
- Yesteryear Comics of San Diego, California
- Jetpack Comics of Rochester, New Hampshire
- Rodman Comics of Ankeny, Iowa
- Fat Jack's Comicrypt of Philadelphia
- Jesse James Comics of Phoenix, Arizona
And this is what they had to say,
Batman came out this week so it is a strong sales week. All New Captain America 1 sold great. Captain America and the Mighty Avengers did the complete opposite. It sold terrible. Walking Dead keeps bringing in new off the street readers. New Suicide Squad 4 sold fantastic. Possibly thanks to the Suicide Squad movie announcement? And having Harley Quinn on the cover front and center more than likely helped. Thor 2 sold well. DC's weekly series still doing solid numbers. DC's Lego variants are still getting people to pick up both the regular and variant covers. Batgirl 36 sold better than the previous issue thanks to people wanting the Batgirl Lego cover more than the Batgirl monster variant.
Great week with almost a complete sell out of all titles. Wytches #2 squeaks out over Walking Dead #134 for the #1 spot. Marvel takes 6 spots and Batman #36 gets in the end to hit the top 10 for Dc comics. Outcast slips in at #10 spot as well giving Image three top tens this week. Indies this week hit 40% of the sales, with almost every Indie publishers having sell outs. Jokers daughter One shot was hot also with over 40 copies old in 2 days.
Good week for sales. Big bounce back from last weeks offerings. Marvel had 5 of our top ten (and 4 of the top 5) to DC's 4 but outsold DC by a large margin with all the big name titles in one week.
DC's only big selling books are Bat-titles and weeklys this time around. Wytches just missed the top ten as well as The Fade Out coming close. Drifter #1 also saw strong sales for a new Image book. Vertigo sales have slowed to practically nothing.
Lot of great books out this week. Plenty of new faces coming in for Marvel's new #1's.Huge week for Marvel this week! The debut of the New Cap, Iron Man, and Cap & the Mighty Avengers all did great. The number of variants were a little over the top, but we had fun joking with customers about it. Thor #2 did well, but not nearly as well as expected after how crazy people went over that first issue. DC's only real offering this week was Batman, but as usual, it clocked in as our #1 best selling book, and it's doing better than usual with the return of the Joker happening. Another week where we get a bunch of indies in our top ten too, with Wytches, The Fade out and Outcast. It's a great time to be an IMAGE COMICS fan!
Been seeing a lot of people coming in for the trade paperback of Civil War since the movie was announced. Been having to have a few copies in stock at a time to keep up with it. Surprising how many regular readers haven't read that classic!
Great week for books. Batman had the top spot like normal. Image books were hot on it heals with strong showings for Outcast, Wytches and Walking Dead. .Captain America #1 sold strong, but i know i will have to cut 50% on next issue since it is a novelty issue.
I would like to thank Synder and Jock for not being lazy and giving the Wytches #1 2nd print a different cover instead of color coding the reprints like Marvel Comics and Skybound.
Back-issue market was strong with people picking up anything Batman. i think Gotham is getting better and it translate to people having Bat-books on the brain.
