Cake Searches For A Worthy Opponent In Adventure Time With Fionna & Cake: Card Wars #1

From KABOOM!, an imprint of the award winning, BOOM! Studios, comes another excellent addition to the Adventure Time universe. Adventure Time With Fionna & Cake: Card Wars #1. KABOOM! was so pleased with the Adventure Time With Fionna & Cake miniseries created by Natasha Allegri (Bee & PuppyCat) that they couldn't wait to add something new. Written by Jen Wang (In Real Life), with art by Britt Wilson, Adventure Time With Fionna & Cake: Card Wars features the actual card game, Card Wars.

The plot itself follows the idea that Cake is a Card Wars champion who can't be beat. So, Fionna is obviously tired of being beaten. The duo sets off in search of a worthy opponent for Cake, but things get a little tricky. When they encounter a group of gamer slugs, they think they've hit the jackpot. However, because the hardcore gamers have never heard of Cake, they refuse to play with her. A description like that makes it difficult to not say the word "Awe!," out loud. I feel sympathy for Cake, and I haven't even read the story yet. I've mentioned before in the past that there are so many reasons the Adventure Time stories are amusing, but the main reason is the unique characters. How could I not be interested in a story about gamer slugs? Of course, I'm also anxious to find out how things turn out for Cake. Our questions will be answered when the first issue releases this July. Until then, we have the whimsical cover to gaze at.
