Hachette-Fishing Marvel Collections For 2015 – Hawkeye And Star Wars Get Their Own Omnibuses
Book publisher and distributor Hachette has been letting us look at some of the Marvel books coming your way for ghe end of this year and the beginning of the next. Here are a few highlights, followed by the long list.
Deathlok: The Souls of Cyber-Folk with Dwayne McDuffie's Deathlok (1991) #1-15, Annual #1. The first 15 issues of the Deathlok series from the '90s are collected in trade.
Avengers: Revelations with Thanos Annual 1, Uncanny Avengers Annual 1, New Avengers Annual 1, Avengers Annual 1. The most recent Avengers annuals (focusing on Thanos, Dr. Strange and Mojo, along with a Christmas-themed issue) are being arbitrarily pulled together into one volume (Revelations is a misnomer, because not much is revealed.)
Avengers: Ultron Unbound, by Roy Thomas and Bob Harras, appears just in time for the Age of Ultron film, and should cover the Ultron Unbound arc of West Coast Avengers (#89-91) along with the start of Harras' run on The Avengers in 1992.
Nick Fury , Agent Of S.H.I.E.L.D. (1989) 12-23 – Nick Fury: Agent of S.H.I.E.L.D. Classic (the 90s series) gets a second volume, over two years since vol. 1.
Civil War Prelude: New Warriors reprints the long out of print New Warriors limited series by Zeb Wells, now under the Civil War banner.
Marvel Masterworks: The Avengers vol. 15 continues Steve Engelhart's run from #136 onwards (just after the Celestial Madonna storyline), likely covering the contents of the Coming of the Beast/Serpent Crown collections (#137-149).
A Hawkeye Omnibus, collecting the whole run by Fraction, Aja and friends. This has the potential to be one of those evergreen books if its marketed right. Fraction also gets all his Fantastic Four collected in another Omnibus.
All the Marvel Star Wars issues are to be collected in their own Omnibuses, starting with Volume 1: The Original Marvel Star Wars Years. Collecting the work of Roy Thomas, Howard Chaykin, Archie Goodwin, Jo Duffy, Chris Claremont, Carmine Infantino, Walter Simonson and Herb Trimpe collecting STAR WARS 1-44, Annual 1
Other Omnibuses include a complete Young Avengers by Kieron Gillen and Jamie McKelvie collecting YOUNG AVENGERS 1-15, MARVEL NOW! POINT ONE 1 (YOUNG AVENGERS STORY) again, evergreen potential here, and a Death Of Captain America Omnibus collecting CAPTAIN AMERICA: WHO WILL WIELD THE SHIELD? 1; CAPTAIN AMERICA (2005) 602-610; STEVE ROGERS: SUPER-SOLDIER 1-4; CAPTAIN AMERICA (2005) 611-619, 615.1; CAPTAIN AMERICA (2011) 1-10
