Is This The First Supervillain Whose Origin Is In A Talent Show?

The people who producers choose to show on talent shows are often oddball freaks because it makes good television. As is their subsequent utter humiliation at the hands of judges or the public.

Given how often supervillains' origins come down to being humiliated, it was only a matter of time. Reality shows have been used in comics from Civil War to Amrica's Got Powers, but I think this is the first time they've actually inspired someone to acts of supervillainy.
