Jessica Jones' Michael Gaydos Leaves Black Hood, Greg Scott Joins
The brutal Archie Comics Dark Circle series Black Hood by Duane Swierczynski and Jessica Jones co-creator Michael Gaydos started a new arc last month with Black Hood #7 after a skip month with Howard Chaykin. According to solicitations, Gaydos was still going to be on on art for issues #8, #9 and #10.
But now #8 of Black Hood will be drawn by Robert Hack, and #9 and #10 drawn by Greg Scott, the latter to be resolicited in January's Previews….
Archie's Alex Segura told me
"We couldn't have launched with a better artist than Michael Gaydos – he defined the Black Hood's world and, paired with Duane's dark, noir story, really raised the bar for crime comics coming out today. Having someone like Howard Chaykin on issue 6 also widened the lens a bit, showing readers a different, equally stunning take on Greg Hettinger and his world. So, as we headed into the second arc for the series, we decided it would be a good time to shift gears artistically and bring in a few different voices – Sabrina's Robert Hack brings his horror/pulp style to #8 and new regular artist Greg Scott joins the team for the rest of the story and beyond. We think fans will be happy with what they've put together – though I can't say things will get easier for the Black Hood!
"My only regret is we didn't get all the right info out in time for solicits for 8 and 9, though we'll do our best to relay the correct, final information to retailers as often as we can in advance of release."
Here's some art from Hack's guest issue, his cover for #8 and a promo image by Greg Scott, the new regular artist starting with #9.
THE BLACK HOOD #8

But their first encounter leaves our man beaten, humbled… and hungry for payback. The Crusaders, however, have some payback of their own in mind. Especially when they stumble upon the Hood's real identity… Artist extraordinaire ROBERT HACK (Chilling Adventures of Sabrina, The X-Files) as he takes over art duties in this special issue.
