John Ridley And Georges Jeanty Return To The American Way, For DC/Vertigo

tamwa

Once upon a time, John Ridley wrote a comic The American Way with George Jeanty. It was published by Wildstorm.

Then he wrote the screenplay for 12 Years A Slave and won an Oscar.

Now he is writing a sequel. To The American Way. Called The American Way: Those Above and Those Below. With Georges Jeanty again…

The original was about superheroes created by marketing in the 1940s to fight aliens and communism. But in the sixties they are more concerned with  distracting the public from other social issues harder to deal with.

Ten years later, everything has fallen apart. Th superheroes are gone, save for one, The New American, championing the poor of Baltimore.

Look for it in the summer of 2017 from DC Vertigo – and to be talked about at NYCC.
