Kurt Busiek's Redhand Coming To The USA, Now With A Third Volume
Kurt Busiek's next published comics project, in English, will be Redhand, published by Humanoids, and now coming to the English language. And he'll also be writing the third volume. Nope, though the new writer is a mystery.
The first two volumes of the book were drawn by Italian artist Mario Alberti while the third is by Mexican artist Oscar Bazaldua.
Redhand was one of the titles announced for publication in 2008 when Humanoids made a deal with Devil's Due. But since that partnership soon fell apart, the book never saw an English edition (although it's been translated to German, Italian, Spanish, and of course French for the original edition in the European market).
One year later in 2009, Busiek himself answered a couple of questions about the book on his official webpage:
Mario Alberti and I only had a two-volume contract. We agreed that Humanoids could proceed with another writer and artist, and that's the last I know of any plans. If they are working on a third volume, I haven't heard about it. Publishing rights are entirely with Humanoids, so it's up to them what they do with the material.
Well, now we finally know that the third and final volume of the series is indeed in the works and will have a different artist, and once it's published in France later this year, a complete US collected edition from Humanoids will surely follow suit.
Busiek states,
I see that a third and concluding volume in the REDHAND graphic album series I did two volumes of with the terrific Mario Alberti has been announced, and that the three books together will be finally be published in English, which is very fine news, as far as I'm concerned.
I also see that in some places, it's being announced that I wrote the third REDHAND volume. I didn't. Someone did, and I'm perfectly fine with that. But it wasn't me.
