ReAnimator #1: Read The Comic Behind The Board Game
As we approach the final hours of the ReAnimator board game Kickstarter, the project is funded, but they're still working on their stretch goals. I just backed it myself — I love a good board game. The Lynnvander Studios folks will be livestreaming the last hour of the project, from 5 to 6 p.m. PST, here. The game, of course is based on the H.P. Lovecraft story Herbert West – Reanimator that was published back in 1921-1922 in Weird Tales.
It has been adapted many times since into various mediums, but the game is pulling art from the Dynamite comic series from 2015 written by Keith Davidsen, drawn by Randy Valiente and with covers by Jae Lee, Francesco Francavilla, Tim Seeley and Andrew Mangum.
For those not familiar with the story, here is there synopsis:
Setting up shop in New Orleans, the brilliant Dr. West continues his life's work: the revival of the dead by purely chemical means. To accomplish this task, he recruits Susan Greene, a young and wide-eyed pharmacologist fascinated by his macabre experiments. Initially unfazed by West's unorthodox practices (including how he funds his research – by selling zombie brain fluid as a narcotic), Susan may regret her scientific curiosity as sinister forces – those aligned with Elder Gods and Haitian Voodoo – begin to align against the Reanimator!
Dynamite has sent over the full first issue to help entice folks to back the board game.
