A Comic Show – Spider-Gwen For The Win!
Aaron Haaland of A Comic Shop in Orlando, Florida, writes:
Hey Fandom, welcome back to A Comic Show! I'm here with a fat stack of New Comics Now! Spider-Gwen, Batman Endgame, and a slew of Image books made my week.
Batman #39 was a thing of beauty. Endgame is easily the best bat story I've ever read, pulling together strands from their epic run and blowing it up!
Spider-Gwen features an alternate world's Gwen Stacy as Spider-Woman with a dead Peter Parker. Jason Latour nails the energy and verve of a capable young woman fighting familiar spider foes. I highly recommend this one. Marvel's other stand out book this week is the Thor Annual which in addition to having more female Thor, also has a CM Punk/Rob Guillory classic Thor in a drinking contest with Mephisto! (And Darth Vader #2 came out as well).
The we have more Rob Guillory with Chew volume 9 and issue #46. Criminal had a savage one-shot in honor of Bru and Phillips' Fade Out volume one. We also got Sex Criminals volume 2 and They're Not Like Us #3. Archie's new Black Circle Black Hood #1 mature readers was another smart move by the publisher. And Boom's Curb Stomp #1 rounded a week that pushed comics forward!
