Misfits Day: Yes, There's A Third Series

We learned a few interesting things in the Misfits Q&A last night. Attended by Lauren Socha (Kelly), Robert Sheehan (Nathan), Jonathan Ross, Howard Overman (writer/producer) and Tom Green (director). Anyway, we learned a few things;

That Lauren Socah's brother was up for the part of Nathan – and if he'd have got it there would have been some very awkward sex scenes between the two of them.

That Lauren has bestiality scenes coming up, and recently had to spend an afternoon redubbing the sex scene with the animal in question.

Oh and Jonathan managed to get a confession out that, confirming that there will be a third series, ("Yes but I was told not to tell them that")

That it may be longer with more writers involved than just Howard Overman. That Jonathan himself had pitched an episode, after his wie Jane Goldman (Stardust, Kick Ass, X-Men First Class, Doctor Who) turned them down. And that the producers have been in talks with America.

But there are no plans for a movie. Howard said "I don't see the point in charging peiople eight to ten quid to see a rehashed version of something they've already seen"

There will be no explanation for the storm. Partly because it would destroy much of the mystery, explaining how Groundhog Day worked for example – but mostly because Howard hasn't got one.

And how the visual look of the series wil be maintained once the characters leave their Community Service, Howard told us "We have a contrived but humourous way to keep them in their jumpsuits".

It was also weird to discover that Bleeding Cool has a modicum of respectability now. The people at the production team were very kind, apparently Bleeding Cool gave them their first review last year and it was a bit of a belter. Deserved of course. We were the first media to even mention the show's existence, and it went on to win a BAFTA. And Bleeding Cool ended up getting its quote onto the front page of the press samples between the Telegraph, Time Out and the Evening Standard.

Misfits series two starts on Thursday 11th November at 10pm on E4 in the UK. And in the US whenever the illegal torrent is available. For exclusive content visit www.e4.com/misfits. You can quite legitimately buy the original series on DVD here. And you really really should, you know.
