Warning: This Is All You Get of Punchline in Batman #89 (Spoilers)

Tomorrow's Batman #89 has been hyped p as the first appearance of Punchline, the Joker's new girlfriend. Designed by Jorge Jimenez, she is to play a major role in the upcoming Joker War storyline written by James Tynion IV, the new Batman ongoing comic book writer. As a result of such hype, advance copies of Batman #89 – and the subsequent Hell Arisen #3 – have significantly jumped on eBay. Many multiple copies have sold for $30 each, but some going for as high as $40 to those who can show they have copies in hand.

Many stores will be operating a one-per-customer allocation, and some will have no copies for the shelves. But it is, at this point, worth emphasising that this is a cameo appearance of Punchline. She only appears on the final page, the epilogue, in this artwork already released by DC Comics. On the phone, talking to Joker, about the grave containing his corpse that Harley Quinn and Catwoman uncovered in Batman #88.

Bleeding Cool has been told that is the be-all and end-all of her appearance in Batman #89. We are to expect a much more sizeable appearance in Hell Arisen #3 next week. I just wanted to manage some people's expectations.

But it does show that the Joker is well aware of just who Nightwing, Robin, Drake and Batgirl really are too.
