9 New Cars and a Legendary Race Track are Rolling Onto Project Cars 2 Next Week
Next week, Slightly Mad Studios is wheeling out the "Porsche Legends" pack for Project Cars 2 which will come with 9 new cars and one very, very iconic race track. The pack will include the 911 Carrera RSR 2.8 and its legendary GT competitor the Ferrari 364 GTB 'Daytona' as well as seven other mystery cars, and the Porsche On-road Circuit from the Porsche Customer Center in Leipzig.
As Slightly Mad's Casey Ringley writes on the PlayStation Blog:
As part of this all-action tribute, we also decided to include one of Porsche's most revered locations―this for the very first time in any racing simulation game.
Carved into the scenery around the distinctive diamond-shaped Porsche Customer Centre in Leipzig is the 3.7km FIA-certified 'Porsche On-road Circuit' designed by famed F1-track designer Hermann Tilke.
The FIA-certification means the track is ready for racing both in-game and real-life, with the addition of pit-boxes for sim racers.
Since the point of the "Porsche Legends" pack is to celebrate the iconic car company, of course the vehicles coming will do quite a bit to reinforce that legacy. Gearheads will recall that Porsche built the 911 Carrera RSR 2.8 after winning at Le Mans for the second time with the 917, when a change of regulations forced the company to move on from the 917 design. Which led to the Carrera RSR, which was built to compete with the Ferrari 364 GTB 'Daytona.' The 911 Carrera RSR 2.8 went on to claim titles at the European GT Championship and Daytona. And you can honestly argue that the Carrera RSR is the entire reason why Porsche has such a strong history in GT racing because it was the car that helped start it all.
Or you can just call me dramatic and get on with your racing.
