CD Projekt Red Has Given Gwent Closed Beta Testers A Free Copy Of The Witcher 2
Players who took part in the closed beta of Gwent the card game spinoff of CD Projekt Red's The Witcher III: Wild Hunt are getting a chance to receive a copy of the Enhanced Edition of The Witcher 2: Assassin of Kings. In order to get the free copy of the second Witcher game, you need to have played Gwent through GOG.com or it's Galaxy Client.
If you did partake in the closed beta through GOG, you can log into your GOG account, then redeem a code at the official Gwent site here.
The offer from GOG and CD Projekt Red expires on May 29 at 2pm CEST.
While the second Witcher game is a bit different from the third and final game in the series, it's definitely worth picking up. Especially with an Enhanced Edition.
The closed beta for Gwent is over, so you won't be able to hop on this deal if you missed out. But the public open beta for PC, Xbox One, and PS4 just started earlier this week. I enjoyed the game's closed beta after playing it on Xbox One, calling it "stupidly fun" even as a stand alone title.
In other Witcher news, Netflix has greenlit a Witcher TV show that will be based on Andrzej Sapkowski's books. Given the frosty relations between the author and game developer CD Projekt Red, the dev company will not be involved in the making of the show. Sapkowski famously receives no royalties off of the games or subsequent spinoffs like Gwent.
