'Dimensions' RPG Boasts Unique 5 Minute Learning Curve
Dimensions promises a new take on traditional role playing games with a system that can be played within minutes of opening up the game:
Dimensions is a tabletop role-play game that redefines the traditional intensive time commitment and steep learning curve that is prevalent within the RPG category. Through simple & intuitive combat & encounter systems, it combines your favorite elements of conventional RPG storytelling & dice play with an online adventure portal that guides even the greenest of players smoothly through the adventures of our fantasy realm: Elnaria. It takes 5 minutes to go from opening the box to beginning your first adventure. There is something for new and seasoned players alike, from the simplicity of compelling storylines and a rich fantasy world to the complex behind the scenes game mechanics and decision system that lives within our adventure portal.
I wanted to get more information on how the game plays, and found some details on the creators website. Dimensions is a rules-light system designed to encourage creativity and role-playing with 4 to 6 players, with another player acting in the traditional game master role (or Storyteller in Dimensions).
Each player will select a pre-generated character, and the Storyteller will run the adventure through a story portal, which is designed to take about an hour to play. There will be entire seasons of stories to play out, with the potential to unlock a vast multiverse of genre settings.
The first setting in Dimensions is called Elnaria, and it's your standard high-fantasy setting.
Dimensions is currently in its funding stages on Kickstarter, which can be found here. The developers say the game has been developed and play tested heavily, and that a large part of the funds being raised will be to obtain art assets. The current art being used on the Dimensions campaign has been licensed to the company, but will not be the final art used in game.
We will have more on the Dimensions game and Kickstarter campaign as the game develops!
