Ever since Niantic began teasing Dynamax Pokémon in Pokémon GO, Trainers all over theorized on how this mechanic would show up in the game. Now, Niantic has announced that the new GO Big event will introduce Max Battles to the game along with five species that will be able to Dynamax. Here's everything we know.

Here's what's happening for the GO Big event in Pokémon GO:

Date and time: Tuesday, September 10, at 10:00 a.m. to Sunday, September 15, 2024, at 8:00 p.m. local time
Max Battles debut: Niantic writes:
- "GO out, GO big, and GO wild with a new Season in Pokémon GO, where Dynamax Pokémon debut in Max Battles! The following Pokémon will make their Pokémon GO Dynamax debut in one-star Max Battles! Pokémon caught from Max Battle encounters, as well as their Evolutions, can be Dynamaxed during Max Battles."
- These species include:
  - Bulbasaur
  - Charmander
  - Squirtle
  - Skwovet
  - Wooloo
    - All can be Shiny
Event Bonuses:
- 2× XP for winning a Max Battle
- 2× XP for spinning PokéStops
- PokéStop Showcases featuring event-themed species
Field Research: Standard encounters with the species features in Max Battles: Bulbasaur, Charmander, Squirtle, Skwovet, and Wooloo, all of which can be Shiny.
Special Research: This mechanic will debut in the game with a Special Research to walk Trainers through it. Niantic writes:
- "Another part of the Seasonal Special Research story will be available to all Trainers beginning at the start of the event. Trainers can complete tasks focused on Max Battles to earn Max Particles, a new avatar item, and more! You can claim this Special Research at no cost from Tuesday, September 3, at 10:00 a.m. to Tuesday, December 3, 2024, at 9:59 a.m. local time."

We can also glean from a webstore announcement that Max Particles will be part of Max Battles. It is likely that Max Particles will be to Dynamaxing as Mega Energy is to Mega Evolution. Niantic featured images of this new item here:
