"Gears 5" Joins The Collegiate StarLeague for 2019-2020 Season

This week, the Collegiate StarLeague announced the latest addition to its roster of collegiate esports leagues will be Microsoft's Gears 5! This is the first time a game from the Gears of War series will be available for esports competition. Players who are interested in taking part can register by following this link, and you can also catchmatches on CSL's Twitch page. here's a few more details from the announcement made by the league.

"We firmly believe that collegiate-level esports is a vital component of the competitive gaming landscape and for many, serves as an introduction to the burgeoning esports realm," said Wim Stocks, CEO and General Manager of WorldGaming and Collegiate StarLeague. "We're always working to broaden our league offerings, and with the addition of the hugely popular Gears 5 to the CSL family, we're confident both players and spectators will be in for an incredible season of competition. "

The latest in the beloved Gears of War series, Gears 5 delivers everything fans have come to know the series for — and then some. Fast, brutal action combines with strategic teamplay to create one of the most exciting competitive titles to date, perfect for collegiate team competition.

The 2019-2020 season of CSL will culminate in the Grand Finals (Spring 2020), with collegiate teams and players heading to the Championships live event to play for scholarships, prizing and bragging rights. Awarded as scholarships, prize money is anticipated to be in excess of $200,000 this season. More details for the 2019-20 CSL Grand Finals will be announced later this Fall.
