Get Ready for Loot Boxes in Dragon Ball FighterZ

You'd think game companies would learn the lessons that have been taught to them over the past calendar year about putting loot boxes inside games, but you know what… they don't. Bandai Namco is the latest to join the "bad idea in a good game" train by adding loot boxes to Dragon Ball FighterZ. The news was confirmed on Twitter new screenshots of the game that show off the new system called Z Capsules.

According to the info that's out there, they can be purchased using two different currencies. The first is Zeni, which serves as the in-game currency you rack up by winning fights, and the other is Premium Z Coins, which are given to you when you get a duplicate item. While there's no evidence of a pay-tier system, it's highly unlikely Bandai Namco would toss in two forms of in-game currency and now allow you to purchase it with real-world money. Stay tuned as we patiently await the game's release this week to see how much it will end up costing you.
