Lucasfilm And Star Wars Continue To Inspire And Give Back
Now this is the kind of story I love seeing. Lucasfilm is partnering with hospitals around the country to bring VR headsets for children to interact with their favorite Star Wars characters. Titled Starlight Virtual Reality, and part of their Force For Change initiative, 270 VR headsets will be distributed to hospitals around the country along with Star Wars themed gowns. It will feature Star Wars content, as well as content from Google Expeditions, Daydream, Google Earth VR and Tilt Brush.
"We're excited to announce the launch of Starlight VR, which we believe will be a game changer in the pediatric health care space," said Chris Helfrich, CEO of Starlight Children's Foundation. "We're excited to have Lucasfilm and Disney, Google and Niagara Cares alongside us as we harness the power of virtual reality to bring more smiles to hospitalized kids when and where they need it most."
The Meet BB-8 experience will be on the show floor this weekend at Star Wars Celebration in Orlando for people to try out, and will also launch at Florida Hospital for Children in conjunction with the event. This is just another example of Star Wars and Lucasfilm giving fans both young and old a reason to continue supporting our favorite galaxy from far, far away.
