Nintendo Apparently Has More Mobile Titles On The Way
It looks like Nintendo is going to be investing more into mobile as it appears they will have more titles coming down the road. For a few years now, the company has been dabbling in the medium with a few select titles. The main ones being Mario Kart Tour, Dr. Mario World, and Super Mario Run. Along with brand-out titles from other franchises such as Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp, Dragalia Lost, and Fire Emblem Heroes. Some of these have seen great success with a player base that keeps on thriving, while others have a good start, and then people kind of slowly losing interest over time. There's no way to predict from Nintendo's perspective what will be a great game and what will be a flop in this medium since they don't really have control over a few factors like they do selling a game on their own consoles. But it looks like they're not giving up, and in fact, are doubling down on it.
A few outlets picked up on a brief mention during the Q&A segment of the most recent Nintendo Financial Results conference call, in which Nintendo President Shuntaro Furukawa chatted with investors. You can read the full report here if you'd like (and if you can read kanji). During the session, Furukawa confirmed that the company would continue to support all of the titles they currently have out in the market and that they were currently producing several more that are in the development stages as we speak. But no new games were mentioned during the call, so we have no real clue what those games could be or what characters they would feature. So if you dig what the company is currently doing with mobile games, you have some awesome new titles to look forward to in the years to come.
