Overwatch is Getting Another Free Weekend Next Week
Blizzard has announced that Overwatch will be getting a free weekend come next week. It will take place during the game's 2nd-anniversary event.
Blizzard hasn't been afraid of opening the gates of Overwatch to everyone periodically in an attempt to attract new players to the game. While you can pick up the game for relatively cheap nowadays, the free weekends is always a nice little incentive, especially if you are tempting one of your friends to hop into the game.
Well, prep your Overwatch-less buddies because we have another one coming. On March 25 – 27, players on PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One will be able to play the game for no charge. Blizzard tweeted the announcement last night, saying:
Of course, you will keep any progress and items you get will carry over if you pick up the game. That's handy as this promotion will coincide with the game's 2nd-anniversary event, which will bring new a new map, skins, emotes and all that good stuff. Interestingly, all the skins in the game, even from other events will be unlockable, so if new players acquire enough gold, they will be able to get any skin they want. That's a nice little way to make them not feel left out for missing two years of content.
Overwatch is a special title for me, and I know many others too. It's, for my money, one of the very best multiplayer games ever made and seeing new faces get into the game is always good. Hopefully, those who haven't tried it will get to have their own taste. If you are one of those players, you really should check it out next weekend. What do you have to lose?
