Overwatch League Fines and Suspends Player for Homophobic Comments

The first year of the Overwatch League has its first controversy. As we reported two days ago, the Dallas Fuel deactivated Felix "xQc" Lengyel after he went online and made what has now been confirmed by multiple sources as homophobic remarks toward an openly gay player, Austin "Muma" Wilmot of the Huston Outlaws, after the Fuel lost 0-4 in a shutout. The following day, Lengyel was fined $2k and suspended from four games by the League, a decision which the Dallas Fuel supported and double-downed on by saying he would be suspended from the team during the entirety of the first stage of the games.

While this may look like adequate punishment to some in esports circles, there are many on social media who are calling for the team to fire Lengyel from the team, hoping that somewhere in his contract there's a morality clause that will give Dallas a door to kick him out of. Meanwhile, Lengyel has taken to Twitter himself to claim that his words had no malicious intent and apologized to Wilmot, while also using his newfound free time to stream himself playing Overwatch on Twitch.
