SEGA's Redesigned Sonic Logo Is Perfect For Social Distancing

The need for social distancing isn't lost on SEGA, as the company made a special Sonic the Hedgehog 2 title screen that encourages fans to stay "at least 6912 pixels apart." Mark this company down as one entity that's not afraid to promote safe practices during this time while still managing to have a little fun.

The fun new design was circulated around Twitter after SEGA posted the title screen, which finds both Sonic and Tails an "appropriate" distance apart. This reimagining is a far cry different from what they typically look like in the normal title screen, with Sonic on the right and Tails on the left, hanging together because they're BFFs.

Of course, that wouldn't fly in a world where COVID-19 is ruining our everyday lives, so SEGA has ensured the friends (can hedgehogs and foxes contract the novel coronavirus?) are safely apart from each other for this weird clown world we call 2020. In addition to making this new title screen, the official Sonic the Hedgehog Twitter account shared some fun new Giphy stickers, which also promote the strange new reality we live in. There are four new choices to use on Giphy: Work from Home Tails, Social Distancing Sonic and Tails, Online Sonic, and Stay Home Sonic.

It has become increasingly clear from the way people have behaved ever since this pandemic began that grown adults need to be treated like children as we beg for them to please wash their hands and stay home. Perhaps hearing it from Sonic the Hedgehog and friendly Tails will mean something. Plus, you've got to hand it to SEGA, these stickers and title screen changes are actually pretty cute.

Now, if you haven't been moved to play Sonic already, you might be by the time you look at this title screen for a good, long while.
