Sony Has Filed a New Patent For a Game Cartridge

It looks like those who thought Sony would be stepping away from the mobile console business spoke just a little too soon. The company filed paperwork, which you can see here, for a brand new type of game cartridge, with what looks like some type of keyring hole at the top and a micro USB port on the bottom.

Obviously, we're not going to know what this is designed to be used in for a very long time, but speculation has already begun that it could be part of Sony's response to the Nintendo Switch all the way to being a mobile version of whatever the next PlayStation could be. Whatever the case, it's a hell of a change for Sony since the last time they dealt with something of this size, it was when the company was still dealing with memory cards.
