Street Fighter V on Steam Drops DirectInput and Direct PS4 Controller Support
Those of you who have been playing Street Fighter V on Steam may need to seek new ways of using a controller on the platform after Wednesday. The latest update to the game, Version 4.021, which will go into effect on February 27th, will eliminate support for DirectInput and Direct PS4 controllers. What this basically means is is if you're using anything PS4 related on Steam, or if you're using a controller that uses DirectInput (like many arcade sticks do), you will lose controller functionality and be unable to play the game just by plugging it into your tower or laptop.
The company outlined details as to what you can do in order to play with other controllers, showing that in order to hook them up you have to go through a process of making them detectable by the system, but gave absolutely no reasoning as to why they eliminated the patches in the first place. If anything, the entire process seems counter-productive and, while not impossible to get back to playing and maybe only adds another 5-10 minutes of setup depending on what you're playing, does come off as an unnecessary annoyance to anyone not using a controller that utilized Xbox One or Xbox 360 parameters. Maybe Capcom will give us a reason down the road why these changes needed to happen to Street Fighter V.
