The Trailer For The Outlast Trials Is Hauntingly Exciting

One of the last trailers we saw of the day for the PC Gaming Show was a freaky little preview for The Outlast Trials by Red Barrels. This is a game that's been on our radar for a while now as it was announced back in December 2019 as a successor to the original Outlast, but we haven't seen much of anything for it until today. The trailer itself is a frighteningly bloody mess that has got us excited. You can read the description below along with some info we received last year, which kind of gives you an idea of the world this is set in. As we see visuals of some kind of reader headset being attached to someone's head through a surgical procedure, which we can only assume is being used to see and record that person's POV and give them night vision as they are trying to now survive. How this plays into the Cold War era at the moment is really unclear, but the fact that it is a survival team game makes us super excited to try it.

Set in the era of the Cold War, human guinea pigs are involuntarily recruited by the good folks at the Murkoff Corporation to test advanced methods of brainwashing and mind control. In a world of distrust, fear, and violence, your morals will be challenged, your endurance tested, and your sanity crushed. All in the name of progress, science, and profit. Work alongside your friends in an attempt to survive, because your freedom ends in 2021 in The Outlast Trials.
The world of Outlast is a true survival horror experience which aims to show that the most terrifying monsters of all come from the human mind… and Red Barrels! Whilst not a direct sequel to the other critically acclaimed Outlast titles in the series, The Outlast Trials will be set in the same thrilling universe: more precisely, right in the middle of the Cold War era. The Outlast Trials will allow players to face the horrors of the trials by themselves or cooperate with up to three other test subjects. After all, it's always better to shit your pants with some friends!
