Today Is Charmander Spotlight Hour In Pokémon GO: Tips & Details

Tonight is Charmander Spotlight Hour in Pokémon GO. From 6 PM – 7 PM, the Fire-type Starter from Kanto will be appearing in the wild in little flaming stampedes and responding with higher frequency to Incense. This original favorite will also be appearing in spawn points that are normally inactive in Pokémon GO.

Here's everything you need to know about Charmander Spotlight Hour in Pokémon GO:

  • Charmander can indeed by Shiny. If you missed the two Charmander Community Days in Pokémon GO, this is a great shot at catching a Shiny Charmander to evolve up into that stunning black Shiny… the fearsome Charizard.
  • The Spotlight Hour bonus this week is double catch Candy. This is a great chance to rack up on that Charmander Candy if you're looking to power up a Charizard.
  • Be careful with your storage and items! Let's be real. Charmander and the starters are featured in Pokémon GO events all the time. What trainers should be preparing for this week is GO Fest 2021. This landmark event is happening this coming Saturday and Sunday, and you're going to want to approach both days with cleared-out Pokémon storage and an optimized item bag with the absolute highest number of Poké Balls and Ultra Balls you're able to gather. While Spotlight Hour is definitely fun and Charmander is a solid feature, only go all-out on this hour if you're able to plan item restocks throughout the week leading up to GO Fest 2021.

Niantic announced the rest of the month's Spotlight Hours over on the official blog:

Tuesday, July 20, 2021: Squirtle will be in the spotlight, and you'll earn twice the Candy for transferring Pokémon.

Tuesday, July 27, 2021: Natu will be in the spotlight, and you'll earn twice the XP for evolving Pokémon.
