Traveling To Hell in a Jacket With Devil's Hunt at PAX East 2019
When we visited the 1C Entertainment booth at PAX East this year, the main game we were treated to was called Devil's Hunt by Layopi Games. This is a little bit of everything as you get partial exploration, partial brawler, partial puzzles, and a good healthy dose of brimstone and ugly creatures running the great beyond. The game is actually based on the bestselling novel Equilibrium by Paweł Leśniak, as you play Desmond who has demon powers but can work with either side of the coin when it comes to heaven and hell. Which is a pretty convenient trope for a video game for you to go anywhere you want and also be a hardcore demon in the process.
I found the game to be interesting during the demo as we explored a bit and went on a rescue mission for a guy who eventually led me to a boss battle. I felt like there was more to be desired, however, as at a certain point I felt like I was just button mashing the different fighting combos I could make against enemies until I finally reached my goal. I'm hoping we get to see more out of this before it's released this year, because while some elements are cool, there were some parts still left to be desired. But hey, it's a demo, so that could all still be a work in progress.
