CD Projekt RED Won't Bother With A PlayStation Pro Version Of The Withcer 3
Sony have made some noise about bringing older games up to 4K and HDR so there won't be a brand new hardware update, but not enough games making use of it. There are a few of those lined up, but it seems not everyone is onboard.
In fact, a pretty big someone. CD Projekt RED have decided not to go back and patch the functionality into the console version of the game. Speaking to Eurogamer, it seems that the developer is only focused on the future, saying:
Since we want to fully focus on Cyberpunk 2077 and Gwent, and converting The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt from a full HD game into a 4K one would be too much of a time and resource-consuming process, we decided not to release an edition of Wild Hunt supporting the new features of PlayStation Pro
This feels like a pretty big snub, and like Sony haven't incentivised the developer to go back and support the game that won the most game of the year awards last year. However, it is important to note, CD Projekt RED is relatively small for the size of games it creates, so it really might just be a man power thing. Shame either way, because it is tech savy RPG fans who will suffer in the end.
