Guillermo Del Toro Swears Off Making Video Games In Order To Avoid World War III
The prospect of a Guillermo Del Toro video game has been around for a while. He was first attached to InSane at THQ before the publisher went under. He then got the entire internet excited by announcing he was working on Silent Hills with Hideo Kojima, before that entire endeavour went very south as well.
Well, he has now told ShackNews that he isn't likely to ever make a video games, citing his bad luck. In the interview he said:
I have proven to be the albatross of video games," he says. "I joined THQ, and THQ goes broke. I join Kojima, and Kojima leaves Konami. I have decided, in order not to destroy anyone else's life, I have decided I will never again get involved in video games. Otherwise, I'll join someone and his house will explode, or something.
He then went on to talk about his experience at THQ, what he learned making InSane and also the nature of his affection for Kojima. He finished it all off by saying:
if I join another video game, World War III will star

It really is an unfortunate run that Del Toro has had, but I do hope this is just him playing around or being in the moment. I think he has an incredible game in him. Maybe with some distance on the situation and a current movie slate that isn't as nuts as it is, he will come back to the medium. We will see.
