Konami Say Hideo Kojima Is Still Employed By Them Even When It Looks Like He Is Not
Yesterday I ran the story about Hideo Kojima having left Konami. Up until that point, Konami hadn't said anything, but outlets were verifying all over the place.
Well, Konami has now spoken, and it has given a rather confusing statement. Speaking to Tokyo Sports (translated by Kotaku) Konami has said:
Currently, Kojima is a listed as a company employee [at Konami].
Currently, Kojima and the development team are finished developing Metal Gear Solid 5 and are taking a long time off from work.
[On the Report yesterday] We're not sure what kind of thing this was.
Because the development time for console games is so long and fatigues builds up, it's common for employees to take extended periods of time of when development is finished."
So he is on vacation?
Well, it would seem not. Simon Parkin, who wrote the initial report has hit Twitter with this image from Hideo Kojima's leaving party.
Well, this is a little odd then…maybe Konami will just sit on that non-compete clause to wait to announce Kojima is leaving. But to what end? I'll update you if anything changes.
