Oculus Rift Creator Says 'The Headset Is Obscenely Cheap For What It Is' At $599

I think most people were a little surprised by the price reveal of the Oculus Rift yesterday. I don't believe the $599 price to be obscene, especially as this seems focused on a slow roll out of the tech, but the noise online has been loud, that's for sure.

Well, Palmer Luckey, the Rift's creator, thinks the headset is very well priced. On Twitter, responding to the criticism, he said:

In another reply saying the Rift was comparable to a cheap TV, Luckey concured saying:

As I said, while the price is high certainly, I don't think it is obscene or unfair. It does seem Oculus wanted to put the best tech possible in the headset which is encouraging. The problem obviously came with managing expectations of the price. That most certainly is on Oculus.
