Rocket League Is Creating A CS:GO Like Crate System But Has Already Distanced Itself From Gambling
The CS:GO gambling debacle involving YouTubers ProSyndicate and TmarTn is raging on, and it seems that the industry is getting wise that the practice of gambling sites, probably isn't great for image.
Take Psyonix for example. It has recently been announced that the game is taking the rather controversial approach of adding a crate style system into their game, which will allow players to win keys to open boxes that unlock cosmetics.
This is the exact system the let CS:GO and other titles to be used on shady gambling sites like CS:GO Lotto. It seems the developer is aware of that and has already vowed to not support the practice. In a reddit post, Psyonix's Jeremy Dunham said:
There will be no Steam Marketplace integration with crates. We are definitely aware of the problems related to third-party gambling in other games and we are not interested in taking that approach.
Very preemptive. It is good to see the developer get ahead of this. Will this new system work at all though? For that, we will have to see.
