Armie Hammer NOT in for 'The Batman', No One Asked Him
We'd like to first remind everyone that casting RUMORS are often a far cry from the actual casting that happens for a film, especially with a character like The Batman. Director Matt Reeves is still hard at work on his solo Dark Knight film for Warner Bros. Pictures, but without the most recent actor to play the mantle of Bruce Wayne/Batman, Ben Affleck.
The 2-time Oscar-winning filmmaker stepped away from the role after much back and forth as to if we'd see the return of Batfleck in this solo capped crusader film, and the search has begun again to fill the cowl.
For about a week, outlets we're using BossLogic's pretty incredible gallery of Batmen art to fuel the casting rumor fires (but again, they were fanart pieces, NOT concept art of Robert Pattinson as Batman, ffs).
One of the names being tossed into the ring with some sense of assurity was Armie Hammer (Man From U.N.C.L.E., Call Me By Your Name). He's an interesting choice, as yes he's got the strong chin and piercing eyes, but he also doesn't really understand comic book fans, as made apparent by that embarrassing Twitter post following the death of Stan Lee.
It also turns out he's kind of the unlikely choice, as no one from WB or Reeves production team actually asked Hammer.
In a recent chat with Yahoo, Hammer explained:
"No one who can actually give me the job has asked me if I'm interested. I don't even know if they are done – they are still working on a script. I don't think that they are close to production but I can conclusively tell you that no one has checked my availability, which is a bummer."
So, more than likely, we won't be seeing Hammer as Batman anytime soon. We'll of course let you know what we hear about the production going forward.
