Captain Marvel: Brie Larson Found "a Little Keanu Reeves" in Herself During Training

It takes a certain type of person to really get a handle on characters like Captain Marvel. Not only are going to be a hero to kids everywhere, but you also need to be able the scrutiny. Everything you say and do is going to be under a microscope, and if you don't fit a specific personality mold then the mob will try to eat you alive. According to Kevin Feige to Entertainment Weekly, there isn't any worry about Captain Marvel star Brie Larson being able to handle this because she's already an inspiration.

"She's already an inspiration to many in her real-world work, and now we get to put her in an iconic costume and give her these powers on the big screen," says Feige.

Co-star Samuel L. Jackson echoed the statement by Feige. Jackson is back in the Marvel universe after being largely absent since Avengers: Age of Ultron. This is the second time Jackson and Larson have worked together.

"She has a sense of determination that fits this character very well," adds Jackson. "It's a lot of work to get ready for something like this, and she did all that. She's got the talent and the skill to make it something that's going to be very special."

It seems that everyone is in agreement that Larson was meant to play this role. Lashana Lynch, who plays Maria Rambeau, said that there are some people are made for this and Larson is one of them.

"There are certain people that are made for this, and she's definitely one of them," says Lynch. "She's carefree, she's disciplined, she creates a very cohesive environment. The whole crew are as tight as they are because of her. She brings in games to work. We've got like a karaoke machine somewhere on the lot that I've not used, but I know that we're gonna use at some point."

It seems that Larson have got all of the inner workings for a superhero, but there was a lot of training involved to get her body in shape. The training, which Larson started nine months before the film even started shooting (according to Entertainment Weekly), included " learning judo, boxing, and even some wrestling."

"I was an introvert with asthma before this movie," she says with a laugh. "I really thought when they hired me, 'I am the worst choice for an action movie.' And I didn't know that I had a little Keanu Reeves in me! Who knew?"

Can we all agree that saying we all have "a little Keanu Reeves in me" is the best possible way to describe becoming a badass? Because it really it. Larson has clearly put in the work on the physical side, and her co-stars have vouched that she's got what it takes on the inside as well. It's time for this lady to take center stage of the Marvel Universe.

Summary: Carol Danvers becomes one of the universe's most powerful heroes when Earth is caught in the middle of a galactic war between two alien races.

Captain Marvel, directed by Anna Boden and Ryan Fleck, will also star Brie Larson, Jude Law, Gemma Chan, Djimon Hounsou, Lee Pace, Lashana Lynch, Samuel L. Jackson. The film is set for release on March 8th, 2019.
