Concept Art For The Skrulls From 'Captain Marvel' Emerges Online

When people settled in for Marvel Studios Hall H presentation they were hopeful that some Captain Marvel concept art would appear for all to see. We got a few pieces of concept art of the costume and Brie Larson as the title character but what we some concept art of who she would be fighting; the Skrulls. Thus far we don't know much else about the movie and Marvel hasn't released the other images online yet but now we do have a better look at the Skrulls themselves. Concept artist Jerad S. Marantz was surprised to find out that his concept art was shown during the Hall H presentation. Instead of having to see pictures of pictures of the art Marantz shared a picture on instagram. We now have have a better look at the Skrulls.

Those hashtags are interesting though if we read into them a bit. Marvel and Fox share the rights to the Skrulls and the Super-Skrulls were part of the Secret Invasion story line. The most famous Super-Skrull would be Kl'rt who likely resides with Fox but others could exist in that same grey area as Quicksilver, Scarlet Witch, and The Watchers. Guardians of the Galaxy director explained the shared situation but that "some specific Skrulls are at Fox." So while Fox likely owns some specific characters then Marvel could use the race of aliens in a broad sense.

Details about the new Captain Marvel movie are still coming out and we'll learn more as the 2019 release date gets closer. Right now we have a rumored start date for filming of January of 2018 so the movie could be in post production by the time Comic-Con International rolls around next year. Until then it's unlikely we'll get much more aside from perhaps an after-credits scenes in Avengers: Infinity War.

Captain Marvel, directed by Anna Boden and Ryan Fleck, will star Brie Larson and Samuel L. Jackson. It will be released on March 8, 2019.
