Deadpool & Wolverine Scores $38 Million On Thursday
Deadpool & Wolverine is off to a hot start at the Weekend Box Office with over $38 million in previews, with a lot more to come.
Deadpool & Wolverine is now playing everywhere you can go see a movie, and boy did a lot of people take advantage of it on Thursday night. The R-rated film scored $38 million in previews, which is a record for an R-rated movie, and it is the eighth highest ever period. It will for sure score the highest opening weekend of 2024 for sure, that is guaranteed, but if it crosses the fabled $200 million mark domestically is the story. It is just behind Infinity War, which had $39 million in previews in 2018 and is on its way to making $257 million in its opening. That film was not a hard "R," though. We shall see come Sunday.
Deadpool & Wolverine Slice Up The Box Office
Marvel Studios presents their most significant mistake to date—Deadpool & Wolverine. A listless Wade Wilson toils away in civilian life. His days as the morally flexible mercenary, Deadpool, behind him. When his homeworld faces an existential threat, Wade must reluctantly suit up again with an even more reluctantlier… reluctanter? Reluctantest? He must convince a reluctant Wolverine to—Fuck. Synopses are so fucking stupid.
Shawn Levy directs Deadpool & Wolverine, which stars Ryan Reynolds, Hugh Jackman, Emma Corrin, Morena Baccarin, Rob Delaney, Leslie Uggams, Karan Soni, and Matthew Macfadyen.
Kevin Feige, Ryan Reynolds, Shawn Levy, and Lauren Shuler Donner produce, with Louis D'Esposito, Wendy Jacobson, Mary McLaglen, Josh McLaglen, Rhett Reese, Paul Wernick, George Dewey, Simon Kinberg, and Jonathon Komack Martin serving as executive producers. Deadpool & Wolverine is written by Ryan Reynolds, Rhett Reese, Paul Wernick, Zeb Wells, and Shawn Levy
Of course, this is what Disney and Marvel Studios were hoping for. The film was screened in Hall H at SDCC last night, but watch where you click on reports about that; there are spoilers everywhere.
