Katsuyori Shibata To Undergo Surgery In May

It isn't the news that everyone in New Japan Pro Wrestling wanted to hear, but it's a lot better than hearing about an impending retirement.  We previously talked to you about Katsuyori Shibata and the career-threatening injury that put him on the shelf. Many expected that we would have heard one way or the other by now about him either somehow being cleared to return or retiring from the ring altogether. Instead, word got out on Twitter from MMA/Pro-Wrestling podcaster Striggga that Shibata will be going into surgery next month.

The reason for the surgery? Apparently, the right side of his body is still suffering from the effects of the headbutt, and a surgery is required to help fix and mend the situation. The tweets also say that while Shibata is not pushing himself like other wrestlers might do in this kind of situation, he does want to return to the ring.
