Episodic Game Life Is Strange Gets A New Trailer Showing Off 'Indie Film' Aesthetics
I was invited to catch a behind the scenes look at Life Is Strange back at EGX this summer, and I have to say, I was pretty pleased with what I saw. The scene that was presented showed the game's two leads – Max and Chloe, reconnecting for the first time in years. It was an emotionally driven sequence about the two lead female characters trying to reconcile their differences after years apart.
It felt very 'real' and character driven to the point where Square Enix kept hammering the phrase 'indie movie' into their presentation. That's okay too, because it seems like the game is hitting that mark pretty accurately.
Although on the other hand, one of the girls has the power to reverse time. So that does somewhat break that mold.
In what I was shown, it was mainly used to explore other options in the choices you make. To get a better idea at what I'm talking about, check out the new trailer below to get your gauge on it.

I can already see this not a game for everyone. It's a weird mix of things and not the kind of story that I've seen portrayed in games very often. For me though, it's pretty exciting to see new things, and female friendship is a topic so seldom covered in gaming. I'd advise, if you like the tone of stuff like The Walking Dead and Gone Home, it definitely feels like you should keep an eye on this one.
The first episode of the five part series will release on January 30th, 2015 for PS3, PS4, Xbox 360, Xbox One, and PC via Steam
