Eunice Grayson, the Original Bond Girl, Dies at the Age of 90

We start the morning off with some sad news. Eunice Grayson, the original Bond Girl from Dr. No, has died at the age of 90. The news was reported from her official Twitter account and then Bond producers Michael G. Wilson and Barbara Broccoli issued a statement. Grayson's character of Sylvia Trench was the one who set up Sean Connery's now-legendary line, "Bond, James Bond."

Besides being the first Bond Girl, she is also the only one to appear in two films, Dr. No (1962) and From Russia with Love (1963). Trench was planned to be a recurring character in the series, but Goldfinger director Guy Hamilton decided not to use her.

Grayson began her acting career in the late '40s and remained active until the early '70s, appearing in over 50 films and television series. Besides her adventures with James Bond, she appeared on The Saint television series with future Bond, Roger Moore. She was also part of the Hammer Horror family, appearing in The Revenge of Frankenstein with Peter Cushing.

The statement from Wilson and Broccoli reads:

"We are so sad to learn that Eunice Gayson, our very first 'Bond girl,' who played Sylvia Trench in Dr. No and From Russia With Love, has passed away. Our sincere thoughts are with her family."

Below is from the film Dr. No where we see Trench (Grayson) playing cards with the dapper Mr. Bond.
