Mario Maker Gets A Release Window For This Year

The potential for Mario Maker is huge. The Nintendo game is going to put a Mario level creator into the hands of its audience to play around and design their own 2D platformers. You will then be able to set each one in the art style of Super Mario Bros, Super Mario World, Super Mario Bros. 3 and New Super Mario Wii U.

Giving that tool over to a community that have been playing Mario games for nigh on 30 years now could create some powerful experiences. Last night during Nintendo Direct, we got a release window too, announcing that the game would hit during September.

My only worry for this is how much space the developers will give you to build in. I really hope there is a sizable pallet to create. If that turns out to be the case, the community are going to go nuts with this game.
